Nine wounded, including four, in a riot for Trump supporters in the American capital
Nine people were injured, including four in stabbings, and at least 23 people were arrested during a tumultuous night of clashes between supporters of outgoing US President Donald Trump and his opponents in Washington, DC.
The American network “NBC” reported that thousands of Trump supporters and opponents gathered in central Washington yesterday evening, ahead of a meeting of the electoral college to officially approve the results of the presidential elections that took place on the third of last November and to confirm the victory of Democrat Joe Biden.
Quarrels broke out in many places between the two sides, while police forces were called in and 23 people were arrested, including six on charges of assaulting police officers and others on charges of committing riots, violence and possession of unauthorized weapons.
Trump still insists on refusing to acknowledge his defeat in the presidential elections to his rival Biden and has filed several lawsuits in courts to challenge their results, which were rejected one after the other.
